Trade winds expected to strengthen, with showers favoring windward and mauka areas

Weather Blog

Surface high pressure northwest and north of the islands will maintain a trade wind weather pattern across the island chain into early next week.

The trades are expected to become breezy by this weekend.

Low clouds and brief trade showers will favor windward and mauka areas of the state, while most leeward sections will remain relatively dry.

The trade winds are expected to gradually weaken early next week as the surface high pressure weakens and shifts northeast of the region.
