The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for the island of Kauai until 745 PM Wednesday. At 449 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over windward sections of Kauai. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour and stream gauges are on the rise. The Hanalei stream gauge is nearing levels that could lead to flooding over Kuhio Highway and a Flash Flood Warning may eventually be needed if the heavy rain upslope persists.
