Parts of Windward Oahu under a flash flood warning, more rain headed to islands Friday

HONOLULU (KHON2) - The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flash flood warning for Windward Oahu through 130 am Friday.

At 1031 pm, local law enforcement reported flash flooding near Waikane. Police reported 6 inches of water overflowing onto Kamehameha Highway and the bus dispatch reported police had stopped traffic on the road.

Locations in the warning include but are not limited to: Ahuimanu, Waikane, Waiahole, Kaneohe, Kahaluu, Kaaawa and Punaluu.

A cold front to the northwest of the islands will strengthen as it moves towards the islands.

The front is expected to reach Kauai by Friday morning, and move down the island chain, pushing south of the Big Island on Sunday. Showers will accompany the front, with cool, dry air moving in behind the front.

A new high will build in behind the front, returning trade winds next week.

Weather should be near perfect for Bruno Mars Saturday and Sunday shows.  Temperatures will be dropping slightly so bring a light jacket.
