A few cold fronts passing north of islands this week

Weather Blog

Light and variable winds develop across the islands due to an approaching cold front and a high pressure system moving farther away from the state.

This new week, we expect a few cold fronts to pass north of the islands keeping the winds in variable conditions.

The cold fronts approach close to the islands, but dont actually engage with the state.

Therefore it does not look to bring a significant increase in showers, however we can see slight upticks in showers Monday night into Tuesday due to the current cold front up north.

The second cold front looks to bring a slight increase in showers Wednesday night into Thursday.

Other than that, we could see isolated showers for windward and mauka areas, while inland areas could see isolated showers during the afternoon hours.

Winds will be variable for the most part, but we could see light to moderate trades pop in Monday and Thursday, possible Friday.

However, those periods will be short lived as winds look to shift back to the southeasterly direction do to more cold fronts.

A progressive jet stream north of the islands is allowing the sets of low and high pressures to move quickly west to east throughout this week.
