No tsunami for Hawaii after 6.5 magnitude earthquake near Sandwich Islands

EWA BEACH, Hawaii (KHON2) — There’s no tsunami threat for Hawaii after a 6.5 magnitude earthquake near the Sandwich Islands according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The earthquake struck around 3:17 p.m. Hawaii time on Friday, April 2, 2021.

The quake took place about six miles east of the south Sandwich Islands.
