Forecast to bring the possibility of heavy rain to the islands starting Tuesday evening

Weather Blog

Moisture associated with an old front will move slowly southeastward across the central and eastern islands over the next couple of days, bringing wet conditions to windward areas and scattered showers to leeward areas as it moves through.

A strong upper level disturbance will pass through the area Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing a slight chance for thunderstorms along with the potential for some locally heavy rainfall to Maui County and the Big Island.

The old frontal moisture will shift east of the state Wednesday night, with cool brisk northerly winds overspreading the islands through late in the work week.

Cool and rather dry weather will persist through the weekend and into early next week, with light showers favoring north facing slopes and coasts.
