HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Kapiolani Boulevard just before 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Police closed the road in both directions between Piikoi and Pensacola streets. All lanes have since been reopened.

Heavy black smoke was coming from the first floor of a 14-story commercial building. After the building was cleared for occupants, HFD confirmed the fire didn’t spread to the other floors.
HFD said the fire appeared to be originating from the first floor ventilation ducting, according to initial reports.
There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
