Rainbows sweep UC Irvine in Conference semis, advance to final with LBSU

The University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team swept UC Irvine on Friday night in the Big West semifinals.

The two-seed Rainbow Warriors advance to play #1 Long Beach State in the championship match on Saturday night.

It will be the third meeting between The Beach and the ‘Bow this season. LBSU beat Hawaii in the final two games of the regular season.

UH dropped #3 Irvine by a 25-17, 25-16, 25-18 final score.

Rado Parapunov led Hawaii with 12 kills and no hitting errors. He also had four blocks.

Colton Cowell and Stijn Van Tilburg each had nine kills.

Joe Worsley moved into ninth position all-time in program history in total assists. The senior setter had 29 sets in the win.

The championship match between LBSU and UH will be played at 8:00pm at the Stan Sheriff Center. doors will open early – at 6:30pm. Fans are urged to arrived early to secure parking.
