The University of Hawaii men’s basketball team is using its longest layoff from gameplay do date to hit the practice court in preparations for a busy end to December.
The 5-4 Rainbow Warriors who were far from content with their seven-point win over UH Hilo this past weekend, will close out the month with five games in two-weeks including the always competitive Diamond Head Classic.
According to sophomore Samuta Avea, the ‘Bows are answering the ‘wake up call’ and are making the most of its idle time.
“Playing inside out, getting it to the post and getting it to our shooters is what we like and guys like myself providing a good spark and bringing energy which I didn’t feel like I did so just going hard in practice looking to fix all that and come back stronger the next game,” said Avea.
“When we were traveling and having all those games we had a lot more games than practices actually so, now that we have more practices than games it’s a really good opportunity for our team to come together and get out all the wrinkles and kinks that we developed lately.”
