Waianae’s Rachael Ostovich will enter the cage on a milestone night for the UFC as the organization announced on Tuesday that the 27-year old will face Paige Van Zant at UFC on ESPN+ 1 in Brooklyn, New York on January 19.
The women’s flyweight bout will be on the undercard of the UFC’s first event under the ESPN banner, jump-starting the billion dollar contract which will feature events on the ESPN’s family of networks.
Ostrovich, who is 4-4 in her pro career, is 1-1 in the UFC and will be coming-off of a third round loss to Montana De La Rosa back in July in Las Vegas.
In VanZant’s last fight, she suffered a loss and a broken arm.
Twelve months and two surgeries later, the 24-year-old VanZant is ready for a return to the UFC as she’ll enter the bout 7-4 in her career.
The Brooklyn event will take place at the Barclays Center on Jan. 19, according to a UFC official on Monday. It marks both the first UFC card of 2019 as well as its first event on ESPN+, which takes over as the mixed martial arts promotion’s broadcast partner after 2018.
