With a chance to defend their title on their home island the Baldwin Bears enter this week’s Hawaii High School Athletic Association State Baseball Championship tournament as the team to beat at Iron Maehara Stadium in Wailuku.

The 2018 champions who have won two of the last three state crowns are the  number-one seed in the Division-I bracket and will face the winner of Wednesday’s game between Waiakea and Saint Louis.

The Bears have dominated this season, continuing the momentum from last year’s title run in the form of a 14-0 season entering the state tourney.

The second-seed in the tournament are the ILH champions of Punahou. The Buffanblu will draw the survivor of Kaiser and Campbell in the quarterfinal round.

The Big Island Interscholastic Federation champions of Hilo are the number-three seed and will make their tournament debut against the winner of Maui and Kailua.

The fourth-seeded team is the OIA champs of Mililani. The Trojans will get the winner of Kamehameha and Castle.
