The No. 6 University of Hawaii beach volleyball team continued their winning ways with 4-1 victory over Nebraska Monday night at the T.C. Ching Complex Courts. The Rainbow Wahine improved to 10-4 on the season with their sixth straight win.

It was the third win over Nebraska in as many days for the SandBows, who also picked up a pair of 5-0 wins over the Huskers (10-8) en route to the Heineken Hawaii’ Invitational title this past weekend.

UH won in straight sets on four of five courts. The lone UH setback came during the nightcap when Nicklin Hames and Lauren Stirvins  took down Ari Homayun and Julia Scoles in three sets, 21-18, 14-21, 15-13. The Husker pair played spoiler for Homayun who was seeking her 100th career win in front of the home crowd. It also snapped a nine-match streak for the pair who played at the No. 1 flight for the first time this season. Homayun and Scoles, however, still sport the squad’s best record at 11-2.

UH breezed in the previous four flights. Paige Dreeuws and Sofia Russo paired up at the No. 5 court for the first time since the opening match of the season and picked up UH’s first point of the day  with a dominating 21-6, 21-11 sweep of Callie Schwarzenbach and Megan Miller.

Kylin Loker and Hi’ilawe Huddleston, the reigning Big West Pairs Team of the Week, won at the No. 4 court in similar straight-set fashion, as did Morgan Martin and Pani Napoleon at the No. 3 court. Both those pairs are riding five-match win streaks. Emily Maglio and Amy Ozee slid down to the No. 2 spot and overpowered Jazz Sweet and Kenzie Knuckles 21-15, 21-17.

The SandBows will now head for the mainland for the second time this season when they play five matches over three days in Arizona. First up for the UH is a match versus Grand Canyon on Thursday, March 21, at 1:00 p.m. HT.
