Rainbow Warriors could be without Bobbitt, Valdes

Local Sports

When the 13-2 University of Hawaii men’s basketball team hits the court against U.C. Riverside Thursday night in California, the Rainbow Warriors could be without two of its three leading scorers.

Aaron Valdes is listed as day-to-day with a right toe injury, and is very unlikely to suit up against the Highlanders.

Senior point guard Roderick Bobbitt failed to make the trip to the Inland Empire, stemming from what the Star Advertiser’s Brian McInnis first reported as academic issues.

At this point, it is unclear if Bobbitt will join the team in California.

In the absence of Bobbitt last month against HPU, Quincy Smith and Isaac Fleming shared the point guard duties.

Hawaii is 5-1 against the Highlanders since joining the Big West Conference.

Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. HST and will air live on ESPN3.
