Kamehameha defensive back Tiger Peterson has verbally committed to the University of Hawaii on scholarship. Peterson is the 12th ranked 2019 football recruit in the state.

Also a talented kick and punt returner, Peterson will be a senior in the fall, and plans to graduate high school a semester early and enroll at UH in the beginning of 2019.

“Growing up, I always went to the Hawaii games,” said Peterson. “I was a big fan of Colt Brennan, that era. So getting my chance to play now is just surreal. It’s unbelievable. Back then the crowd was nuts. Like, you had to sit in the seat you bought the tickets for. Now you can sit anywhere, but back then it was crazy. For me, just to being back the fans and make people look forward to going to the games, that’s just a blessing in itself.”

The 6’1, 190 lb. DB said staying home, and playing in front of his loved ones was a big factor when making his college decision.

“It just feels great, getting a chance to play in front of my family,” said Peterson. “They’ve been there every step of the way, my dad and my mom. They sacrificed so much for me. One of the big things is playing in front of them and making them proud.”

Peterson can make his commitment official on National Letter of Intent signing day on December 19th.
