The Division I and Division II girls soccer state champions were decided at Waipi’o Peninsula Soccer Park last night.
In Division-I, KS-Kapalama took on Campbell in what turned out to be a defensive battle. Leah Feato scored the first and only goal of the contest in the first half. Meanwhile, goalie Caela Kaio made an amazing save to prevent the Sabers from tying the game up.
This would make the difference in this defensive game as KS-Kapalama would edge Campbell 1-0 to win their first state championship since 2014 and ninth overall.
The Campbell Sabers showed a lot of heart and fight throughout the entire game and took the number one overall seed to their limit.
In Division-II, Hawaii Prep Academy and KS-Hawaii faced off for the state championship for the third time in four years. While KS-Hawaii has been impressive in the state tournament and all season, the dynasty that is Hawaii Prep could not be stopped.
Sophomore Malia Brost put on an absolute clinic as she had a hat trick before halftime. This would propel Hawaii Prep to a 4-0 victory over KS-Hawaii.
The defending state champions rolled their way to their sixth state championship in a row, proving that Division II runs through the Ka Makani of Hawaii Prep on the Big Island.
