The retirement for UFC Hall of Famer B.J. Penn has been put on hold once again.
Although officially not announced as of yet, a lightweight bout between Penn and fellow veteran Clay Guida will soon be announced as part of May’s UFC 237 card in Brazil on May 11.
A source close to the situation confirmed the bout agreement to KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello but requested to be un-named since the fight has yet to be officially announced by the UFC.
UFC 237 takes place May 11 at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and UFC Fight Pass.
Penn (16-13-2), 40, a former lightweight and welterweight champion in the UFC will bring a six-fight losing skid into UFC 237.
That’s tied for the longest losing-streak in organization history.
He most recently fought at UFC 232 in December and suffered a first-round submission loss to Ryan Hall.
Guida (34-18), who is 37 years old, most recently loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 225 this past June.
