Hawai’i’s Parapunov selected as AVCA National Player of the Week

One day after being named Big West Conference player of the week University of Hawaii opposite-hitter Rado Parapunov was honored as AVCA National Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The junior from Bulgaria led the second-ranked Rainbow Warriors to a pair of sweeps on the road at UC Irvine.

Parapunov combined for 34 kills with eight blocks in the matches recording just nine errors on the weekend. His hitting percentage was .463 over the course of the two matches.

Parapunov becomes the 22nd player in program history to earn the national recognition and the first since Brook Sedore in 2015.

The Rainbows, now 12-0 on the season having not lost a single-set, will return to action this week with the 25th Outrigger Invitational Thursday through Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The ‘Bows open with reigning Conference of the Carolinas champion King University on Thursday at 7:00 pm.
