Campbell grad Alo named a finalist for Softball Freshman of the Year Award

Campbell graduate and Oklahoma utility player Jocelyn Alo is one of three finalists for the 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Wednesday.

The Hau’ula native currently leads the nation in home runs with 2, having posted 67 RBI with a .416 batting average.

Joining Alo as finalists for the award are Michigan’s Meghan Beaubien and Arkansas’ Mary Haff.

Alo was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year after finishing conference play ranked first in home runs (9), walks (17), runs scored (18), RBIs (25), total bases (46) and slugging percentage (.979) while finishing second in on-base percentage (.554).

The 2018 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year will be announced on May 29.
