Boy’s state soccer championship game previews

Four teams will take the field today at Waipi’o Peninsula Soccer Park in the hopes of bringing home a state championship.

In Division I play, the ILH will be well represented as Iolani will be playing Punahou. Punahou, who are 11-1-2 overall are seeking their 21st state championship. They defeated Kalani 2-1 in the quarterfinals and are coming off of a 2-1 double overtime victory over Mililani.

Iolani are looking to become nine time state champions and are coming in with a 13-2-1 record. They upset then top seeded HPA 2-1 in the quarterfinals and went on to beat Kapolei 3-2 in the semifinals.

Over in Division II, Kapaa will take on Saint Louis in what will be a high powered offense versus one of the states best defensive teams.

Saint Louis comes into the game with a 10-2-2 record and are looking to capture their first state title. They’re led by senior Forward Skyler Goo who leads Division II with 23 goals.

Kapaa is 11-1-1 overall and looks to win their first state title since 2013. They are coming off of a huge 3-1 win against top seeded KS-Hawaii and have only allowed 5 goals all season.

Division II begins at 5 p.m. with Division I to follow.
