For the first time in the Nick Rolovich era the University of Hawaii football team will hold a traditional Spring Football game to close out training camp as part of the team’s Spring Festival on Saturday at Ching Field.

Rolovich announced to the media following Monday’s practice that the format will be Team Mauka vs. Team Makai.

Team Mauka will be head coached by offensive coordinator and running backs coach Brian Smith consisting of the first team offense and second team defense.

Team Makai will be head coached by defensive coordinator Corey Batoon, who will have the first team defense and second team offense.

In the previous three seasons under Rolovich the team held a controlled scrimmage due to lack of depth and injuries, but with more than 30 players with starting experience returning and a healthy roster through the first four weeks of camp a traditional game will be played.

Admission is free at Ching Field on the UH lower campus.

A light practice will start at 4:00pm as festivities for the circus themed event will feature music, food booths, and interractive opportunities with players for fans of all ages.
