Kahuku graduate Alohi Gilman had 18 tackles for Notre Dame but the Fighting Irish lost to the Clemson Tigers 30-3 in the College Football Playoff semifinal.
Gilman, a junior transfer from Navy, is in his first season playing for Notre Dame. He had eight solo tackles and two pass breakups in Saturday's Cotton Bowl.
The safety out of Laie, Hawai'i left the game briefly with what was reported to look like a stinger injury. Gilman returned after only missing a handful of games.
Gilman also had a highlight-play on special teams in the second half when he downed a punt inside the five yard line.
The loss is Notre Dame's first of the season. Clemson will advance to the College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday, January 7th.
