Throwback Thursday: Kahuku’s Mark Atuaia

Throwback Thursday

Tonight, we take the Cover2 time machine to 1990, when Kahuku’s Mark Atuaia set ablaze fields across Oahu, rushing for a state single season record of 2,377 yards, a record that still stands to this day.

Now that historic rushing total came in just 10 games with an average of 12 yards per carry.

Following his legendary prep career, Atuaia played four seasons at BYU, helping lead the Cougars to three conference titles.

Today, Atuaia is married to his wife, Elizabeth, formerly known as Elizabeth Wolfgramm, lead singer of the 1980s pop band, The Jets.

Together, they have seven children, and he is now the running backs coach at the University of Virginia.
