Throwback Thursday: Iolani’s Albert Tufono

Throwback Thursday

We take the Cover2 time machine back to the early 1980s, when Iolani’s Albert Tufono was a one-man wrecking crew in the ILH.

A three-year starter on the defensive line, Number 00 helped guide the Raiders to a league championship as a sophomore, earning State Player of the Year honors after recording 14 tackles in a 7-7 prep-bowl tie with Waianae in the state’s last co-championship.

From Moiliili, Tufono played four years of collegiate ball at the University of Washington, and earned his master’s degree in public administration, leading into a career of working with at-risk youth.

Today, Tufono is watching his son follow his enormous footsteps as Maninoa Tufono, a 2017 Cover2 Award finalist is a senior at Punahou and verbally committed to USC.
