Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was taken 11th overall in the first round of the NBA draft this offseason. The 20 year old out of the University of Kentucky was drafted by the Charlotte hornets and later acquired by the Los Angeles Clippers.
The 6’6 point guard originally from Toronto, Ontario is weeks away from playing in his first NBA game.
Clippers head coach Doc Rivers believes Gilgeous-Alexander can be an elite NBA point guard.
“He’s not going to be special tomorrow but he could be special soon.”
In Hawaii for the first time for training camp, the rookie is going against two solid veteran point guards in Patrick Beverley and Avery Bradley, every day in practice.
“It’s been challenging but it’s been fun,” said Gilgeous-Alexander. “Obviously with defenders like that you get better every day. And that’s my ultimate goal, just to get better every day. And I feel like I’m doing so.”
