The Rainbow Wahine basketball team is playing its last home game of the season on Saturday.
Senior night will feature four players saying goodbye to the Stan Sheriff Center and their home crowd.
Point guard Tia Kanoa’s goal: “try not to cry. Because I don’t like to cry. Yeah that’s pretty much the biggest thing. Because I know imma feel real emotional about how much support I’ve gotten from everybody around me.”
“Getting to know Coach B (Beeman) has been very memorable for me because I think she’s an outstanding human being,” said senior guard Rachel Odumu. “And my teammates. Those are the big memories that I hold.”
“It’s a cool experience. It’s nice to have my family there all the time,” said senior forward Leah Salano. “Hearing what they have to say, saying they’re proud of us makes me happy. Makes me want to do more. Create a path for the younger ones. That’s what I aspire to do.”
“It’s like a family and it’s been like that all my four years,” said Leah’s twins sister Lahni about the team. “Just having sisters around you all the time because you’re away from your family. So that’s probably one thing that’ll stand out for me.”
