While school is off for spring break this week that doesn’t eliminate the need for meals for lower income or homeless children.

That’s where the YMCA food program is stepping up.

They’re providing lunch at Waipahu Jack Hall Memorial Housing for children in need.

“It’s very important, these children, this could be their only nutritious meal for the day, and so we feel that it’s a huge need,” said YMCA executive director of children’s programs Diane Tabangay.

The YMCA also provides after school meals when classes are in session along with meals during the summer as well.
