The woman accused of taking a gun left in an OCCC restroom pleaded not guilty to charges Thursday.

Janelle Newcomb is charged with theft and firearms offenses. She was named a person of interest last week after the gun went missing, then arrested a few hours later in Waikiki.

An adult corrections officer’s .38 revolver was left unattended in a publicly accessible restroom at the main entrance. When the corrections officer went back to retrieve it, the firearm was gone.

Her trial is set to begin in January 2017.
