Easterly trade wind speeds are expected to drop a notch into the 15-20 mph range Friday and Saturday.
While most of the state will remain vog-free, the windward portions of Hawaii Island may see east/southeast winds during this same timeframe. Should the forecast hold, vog and other particles and gasses from the recent eruption in Puna may have a chance to spread farther north towards Hilo.
Air quality my deteriorate the the eastern areas of Hawaii Island due to the vog, haze and laze being transported into interior sections of the Big Island.
Northeast trades are expected to return by Sunday state-wide.
