Lane closures on the H-1 Freeway westbound will be in effect for four consecutive weekends between the Pearl City/Waimalu off-ramp (Exit 10) and the H-1/H-2 split.
The closures are necessary for crews to install micropiles to support the drain boxes and covers in the right travel lane to sustain the weight of vehicle loads.
The installation requires the use of large equipment (i.e., cranes, drill rigs, and concrete mixers and pumpers).
The following schedule will take effect on the weekends that begin April 20, April 27, and May 4:
- Friday at 9 p.m. through Saturday at noon: Three right lanes will be closed for concrete pours.
- Saturday at noon through Saturday at 6 p.m.: Two right lanes will be closed as the concrete cures.
- Saturday at 6 p.m. through Sunday at 11:59 p.m.: Three right lanes will be closed for pavement restoration and clean-up.
Electronic message boards will be posted to warn motorists of the closures. Special-duty police officers will be on-site to assist with traffic control.
HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time and check traffic apps before heading to their destinations.
Roadwork is weather permitting.
