Weekend closure of the Kipapa Stream Bridge begins July 20 for bridge rehabilitation work

The Hawaii Department of Transportation advises Oahu motorists that Kamehameha Highway will be closed in both directions starting July 20 .

The closure will be between Ka Uka Boulevard and Lanikuhana Avenue from 9 p.m. on Friday night through 5 a.m. Monday morning for bridge rehabilitation work at the Kipapa Stream Bridge.    
 
During closure hours, motorists may use the H-2 Freeway as an alternate route. 

HDOT advises motorists to allow for extra travel time to get to their destinations and check traffic to plan their commutes.
 
This is expected to be the final weekend full closure needed for the project. 

The project is estimated to be completed by September 2018.
 
Following the completion of the bridge rehabilitation work, Kamehameha Highway will be restriped between the Kipapa Stream Bridge and Lanikuhana Avenue to increase motorist, bicyclist, and pedestrian safety. 
 
TheBus will be advised to take an alternate route.
