Warning sirens to be tested in Waipahu, Diamond Head

New sirens will be tested on Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The first test will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Waipahu Town Center on Leoku Street.

The second will be held from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Kuulei Cliffs Park, Diamond Head.

These new sirens are part of the Statewide Siren Modernization Project. Residents nearby may hear the siren sound six to eight times for 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified time frame. Testing will include short blasts known as “burps.”

During the tests, emergency management officials and technicians will check that installation work on this siren has been completed properly.

Questions regarding this test should be directed to the City and County of Honolulu Department of Emergency Management at (808) 723-8960.
