Central Oahu residents are on high alert as police search for a burglary suspect.
The man also reportedly exposed himself to a child.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, the suspect entered a home on Kilani Avenue shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
KHON2 spoke to the victim’s mother who said the man came into their home and exposed himself to their young daughter.
She said they had stepped away briefly, and when they came back, they found the man inside the closet, naked.
The victim’s father tackled him to the floor, but the suspect managed to escape.
After the incident, HPD said patrol and K-9 officers searched the surrounding area. No arrests were made.
Officers returned Wednesday to canvass the neighborhood and question neighbors.
One woman, who did not want to be identified, said police showed her and other residents photos of clothes lying on the ground, “like Adidas shorts, blue, and khakis too, which didn’t make sense, and a jacket,” and asked if they knew who the clothes belonged to.
Police have not released any information about the suspect.
