Using technology to keep tabs on your belongings, protect kids while traveling

After you’ve checked that all your belongings are packed for your spring break trip, don’t forget to go over your tech check list. Experts say there are certain pieces of technology you should bring on your getaway.

“So data back up is really key. A lot of people fall into that trap of not doing that. The last thing you want to do is go on vacation and lose your laptop, lose your phone, lose all those photos and those memories that you have. So getting a little hard drive to backup all your photos is going to go a long way,” said Best Buy Tech Expert, Travis stone.

Losing any of your devices on spring break can be a nightmare. Luckily, if you misplace any of your belongings, experts say there are ways to trace back your items.

“There’s tile trackers now that you can attach to your keys, put them on your kids. Lose something you have a way to at least get back to that device,” said Stone.

For parents who will be away from their kids during spring break, experts suggest installing protective software in their devices to prevent them from getting into trouble online.

“A lot of kids are going to be more free so to kind of keep tabs on what they’re doing is really key. Just making sure they know who they’re talking to, what they’re doing and of course anti-virus for your computer is going to go a long way and protect them from fraud,” said Stone.
