With the threat of Hurricane Lane all inter-scholastic events in Hawaii from Wednesday through Sunday have been postponed.

Department of Education superintendent Christina Kishimoto notified parents and guardians of students on Tuesday afternoon.

The canceled events include eight varsity football games that were to be played on Friday and six on Saturday including the highly anticipated meeting between top-ranked Saint Louis at number-three Mililani.

At this time it is unclear which of the games will be made up at a later date.

Update:

MIL games have been rescheduled according to Cover2’s Rob Collias of the Maui News

All school-related inter-island travel this week will be canceled as well.

The Department of Education plans to start announcing whether school closures will be necessary starting at 9 p.m. Tuesday.

This post will be updated with that information when it becomes available.

The information will also be posted on the department’s website.
