Thousands turn out for annual Prince Lot Hula Festival

News

Clear skies made it a beautiful day for the annual Prince Lot Hula Festival.

It was held Saturday at Iolani Palace.

Thousands gathered to enjoy the sights and sounds as halau graced the stage.

Prince Lot, also known as Kamehameha V, is credited with reviving hula at a time it was forbidden.

“We’re doing this to honor Prince Lot and the legacy he started of Moanalua when he brought hula halau from the west side of the island to Moanalua,” said Pauline Worsham of the Moanalua Gardens Foundation.

If you missed it, the hula festival continues on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Admission is free.
