Target is getting ready to open its newest Hawaii store in Ala Moana Center.

The store celebrates its grand opening on Oct. 22.

Before that happens, the company needs to hire approximately 450 employees.

“The reason behind 400 number is because we are going to be a multilevel Target, so two floors,” explained Tasha-Rose Miyataki, human resources team leader for Target Ala Moana. “On top of that, we have an off-site backroom, so our backroom isn’t going to be on our location.”

A series of job fairs will be held from Aug. 11 to 14, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., on the second floor of Ala Moana Hotel, 410 Atkinson Road.

A handful of applicants who applied online came in early for their interviews on Thursday, Aug. 10.

Angel Rose Lucia-Marto was among them.

“I think it’s great. The location is perfect. It was easy for me to get here. It’s a nice environment, everybody seems really friendly, and I’m hoping to get the job,” she said. “I know they run a really tight ship. They’re good to employees and pay is competitive.”

Interested candidates are encouraged to visit Target.com/careers to apply in advance, but you can also apply in person on the day of a job fair.

Store leaders will conduct pre-scheduled interviews with applicants and discuss Target’s dynamic, team-oriented culture.

This will be Target’s fourth Honolulu store, and its seventh in Hawaii.
