Today is Statehood Day. That means no school for kids.
Some students from La Pietra – Hawaii School for Girls spent their day off at an east Oahu heiau.
They cleaned the area of invasive plants and debris.
“I think everyone should go out and help the community,” said Sydnie Sambueno, a senior. “It doesn’t necessarily have to be here specifically, but, just take your time off on a Saturday, and help out your community.”
About 160 students participated in the cleanup project.
