Trade winds will strengthen tonight as a high pressure system moves north of the islands following a cold front.
A Wind Advisory is expected to go into effect starting 6:00am Friday morning for portions of the state, while a Gale Warning goes into effect for the Alenuihaha Channel starting 6pm this evening.
The High Surf Advisory remains in effect for all east facing shores and the west facing shore for Hawai’i island, while all other west and north facing shores had declined under advisory levels.
The trade winds will last into Saturday, but starting Saturday night, the trade winds will weaken and shift.
Starting Sunday, light and variable winds will prevail across the islands as another cold front approaches from the northwest.
We could see an uptick in showers this Friday and Saturday due to the recent front passing north of the islands, and another shower uptick Monday into Tuesday next week due to the next cold front.
Following that, it looks to be mostly sunny skies into the second half of next week.
