HONOLULU (KHON2) - The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center reports the earthquake that occurred at approximately 8:36 a.m. was not large enough to cause a tsunami for Hawaii Island.
There is no tsunami threat for the island of Hawaii.
Preliminary reports indicate that the earthquake measured a magnitude of 4.2 and was centered in the summit region of Kilauea.
Officials are warning residents to be aware of the possibility of after shocks.
Those who strongly felt the quake in the area they live in should take precautionary checks for any damages; especially to utility connections of gas, water and electricity.
