Stolen puppy returned to Kauai Humane Society, 5 still missing

News

One of six dogs recently stolen from the Kauai Humane Society has been found.

According to the shelter, teenagers found Arianna, a two-month-old labrador retriever mix, wandering down a street in Kekaha.

“She’s in good health,” said Penny Cistaro, Kauai Humane Society executive director. “She had fleas, but we gave her a bath and she’s doing well here.”

Arianna is still on schedule to be transferred into a mainland adoption program, Cistaro says.

Five other dogs are still missing: three female pit bull mixes, ranging from two to seven years old, and two female Airedale terriers, ages two and five.

Cistaro is urging anyone who sees “any of the dogs to please contact us and let us know. They can do it anonymously, but we are still actively looking, and it is an open police investigation.”

If you have any information on their whereabouts, call Kauai police or Crime Stoppers at 246-8300.
