Southwest Airlines is getting one step closer to beginning passenger service to Hawaii.
The airline confirmed today that they will be performing a long range navigation and communication validation flight from Oakland to Honolulu. The flight is scheduled for Tuesday.
Upon successful completion of this validation flight, Southwest will continue with the next steps of their ETOPS application process.
Southwest originally announced their intent to serve mainland to Hawaii and interisland routes on May 2018.
