Several babies born on Leap Day in Hawaii

News

It’s a day that only happens once every four years.

February 29 is Leap Day, and more than a dozen Hawaii babies were born.

As of Monday afternoon, Kapiolani Medical Center saw about six births, Queen’s had about four leap day babies, and three babies were born at Wilcox Memorial hospital on Kauai.

That means they’ll celebrate their first birthday in four years.

The chances of being born on Leap Day are one in 1,461.
