Remembrance ceremony held for Hawaii Island Rep. Clift Tsuji

Dozens paid their final respects to Hawaii Island State Rep. Clift Tsuji Friday.

A memorial service was held in the House Chamber of the State Capitol starting at 9:30 a.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 4, a memorial service will be held in Hilo at Dodo Mortuary, 199 Wainaku Street in Hilo. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. and the service at 4 p.m.

Tsuji is survived by two sons – Ashley Allen and Ryan Kalei Tsuji. A private family burial will be held Dec. 5.

In his honor, Gov. David Ige has ordered that the flags be flown at half-staff at all state offices and agencies, as well as the Hawaii National Guard, from sunrise to sunset on Friday, Dec. 2, and from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, Dec. 4.

“Representative Tsuji was a dedicated public servant who spent the last 12 years passionately and vigorously serving his beloved community of Hilo at the Hawaii State Legislature,” Ige said. “He was a quiet man with a big heart who will be remembered fondly by his colleagues and Hawaii Island residents.”
