A reality television star has been sentenced for second-degree theft in Honolulu.
Jason Michael Cauchi, who goes by the name Jax Taylor on the show “Vanderpump Rules,” was arrested in July 2015 while on vacation.
Police said the 36-year-old entered a store on Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki, “selected and concealed merchandise valued at more than $300, and left the establishment without paying.”
Later that day, police say he returned to the store and was arrested without incident.
Cauchi apologized in court Wednesday.
“I had too many drinks, too many mai tais. I made a mistake, took full responsibility and I understand this is going to follow me the rest of my life due to the fact that I’m on television. So I just want to say I’m sorry and I apologize,” he said.
Per a plea agreement, Cauchi was sentenced to 364 days of probation. If he stays out of trouble, his record will be wiped clean.
He also had to pay $350 to the store, $105 to the crime victim compensation fund, and $1,150 in fees and fines.
