Prince’s remains cremated, some fans receive special gift boxes from memorial service

(CNN) — Prince’s friends and family members held a private memorial service for the late music icon Saturday.

They gathered at his home in Chanhassen, Minnesota, where he was found dead on Thursday.

Those in attendance included Prince’s protege and ex-fiancée Sheila Escovedo, better known as Sheila E.

Some of his fans outside the Paisley Park compound received a special gift box from members of his staff (see video above).

Prince’s publicist Anna Meacham said his remains have been cremated and they’ll be kept in private.

She also said there will be a musical celebration of Prince’s life, but its date will be announced later.

Meacham also mentioned that it will be at least four weeks before the results of his autopsy are made public.
