Photo released by UK authorities prompts actor’s response: ‘It wasn’t me’

A suspect photo posted to social media by Blackpool Police has gone viral for its uncanny resemblance to actor David Schwimmer.

Blackpool Police is located in the United Kingdom, under the Lancashire Constabulary.

“Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the 20th September,” authorities wrote.

The post was immediately flooded with comments referencing Schwimmer, the show “Friends,” and his character, Ross.

The resemblance was strong enough for Schwimmer to respond with an “alibi,” claiming he wasn’t even in the country.

In his own social media post, the actor recreated the department’s surveillance footage with the caption: “Officers, I swear it wasn’t me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation. #itwasntme.”

Police updated their post with a comment that read: “Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We’re so sorry it has to be this way.”

No word if an arrest was made in the case.
