Pearl Harbor 75th Commemoration and U.S. Pacific Fleet Band

Yesterday, the Navy and National Park Service hosted the 75th anniversary commemoration of Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, overlooking the USS Arizona Memorial. The U.S. Pacific Fleet Band was an important part of that ceremony, and we had a couple members of the band here today to share some aloha. Lieutenant Kelly Cartwright joined us with more on yesterdays experience, and to tell us about an event tomorrow.

The free concert, open to the public, is tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Hale Koa in Waikiki. They will be paying tribute to the USS Arizona Band, all of whom were lost on Dec. 7, 1941. The concert features a world premier piece by Brett Abigana. Today we got a preview with a song featuring two members of the band: Petty Officers Michael Delorean and Brent Mitchell, performing Braddah Iz’s “White Sandy Beach of Hawaii”.
