Before Sunday’s pro games, the Hawaii All-Star Game will take place. It will feature youth players from Oahu’s Major Island Soccer Organization against a U-18 selection from Fukushima, Japan.
The four professional teams participating are:
Real Salt Lake – MLS
Vancouver Whitecaps FC – MLS
V-Varen Nagasaki – Japan
Iwaki FC – Japan
“It’s a great experience both for our club and also to bring soccer here to the community,” said Kyle Beckerman who has been a fixture on the US National Team, and is currently a midfielder for Real Salt Lake. “I know Hawaii is a soccer rich area and state that loves its soccer. I think a lot of people in that region four of the mainland, they come out here for regionals. So all in all, we just had two feet of snow and to be here is amazing. And we’re really excited to play in the tournament and be here to train.”
