Nine vehicles reportedly fall victim to Zipper Lane pothole

Drivers who used the Zipper Lane Monday morning encountered a mess after nine vehicles experienced tire damage.

The vehicles all reportedly ran over the same pothole near the H-1, H-2 merge.

According to the Hawaii Department of Transportation, Freeway Service Patrol crews helped eight vehicles change their tires, while a ninth did not have a spare tire and had to be towed off the freeway.

Officials say a street sweeping vehicle cleaned the area of any possible debris, and highways crews filled the pothole and repaired the road’s surface.
