Ask anyone who travels and they’ll tell you the TSA line at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport can sometimes zigzag outside of the building, but a new TSA option in Terminal 1 has been added to help speed things up during the day.
We’re told the peak travel hours for Terminal 1, which mainly serves inter-island flights is between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The new TSA checkpoint is located on the ground floor, next to the baggage claim.
It’s an additional option for travelers but may not work for everyone
“It’s not recommended for people with strollers or large carry-on bags or someone who needs special assistance and cannot make it up an escalator,” said Department of Transportation spokesman Tim Sakahara.
But travelers say it’s about time.
“Flying on Monday morning was pretty crazy and the line was I think close to 45 minutes long so whatever help we can get would be great,” said Robert Domingo.
To will help the lines move faster travelers should wear shoes that are easy to slip on and off.
Don’t carry liquids in your carry on luggage
Remember any food you bring may be need to be checked by TSA and don’t bring wrapped gifts.
The Department of Transportation also suggests that you get dropped off at the airport instead of parking and always give yourself ample time to check in before a flight.
